Burley & Oakley

Ginger, Me, and Teresa at the Rodeo

I am really bad at this whole Blogging game! I feel like I never have time to keep it updated. A few weeks ago My dad, Danny, Teresa, Dustin, Kylee, and I went to Burley, Idaho to visit Neil and Ginger Justesen. It was so much fun! We played with the kids, stayed up all night talking, went to a rodeo, toured Neils work and went four-wheeling. It was a nice weekend break and I love Oakley! Their is something about being our in the country with lots of land everywhere. (yes it is different from Sugar City) Here are some pictures from the Weekend.

Sewing

I am sorry it has taken me so long to post again about my sewing class. I made this pillow to match my room. it was my first time ever sewing a zipper! I think I did a pretty good job. My mom also had me try this new pattern for making a baby quilt. At first I didn't think it would turn out but it did! I love it! it has cute little monkeys on it.. Imagine that... I am so glad I got to take this sewing class. I had a lot of fun. I will post pictures of the curtains I made ones I put them up.

King Cake

The Finished King Cakes

A few weeks ago I made a new friend from New Orleans, LA. His name is Jason Stancliffe and he was sad to be missing Mardi Gras. (the good parts of it) I guess in Louisiana (and the south) they have a tradition of making King Cakes, especially around Mardi Gras. It is tradition. Jason decided to teach me how to make them and show off his cooking skills. We spent a whole saturday making these wonderful cakes. They are more like big cinnamon rolls (or coffee cake) with dyed sugar on top to make the different colors. Each color stands for something. Gold (yellow) is Power, green is Faith, and purple is Justice. It was really fun learning how to braid the bread and learn a little more Mardi Gras history. I always thought it was bad but it has some good things too. After making the King Cakes we went back to my apartment and Jason tried French braiding my hair. Lets just say he did a lot better job on the Cakes.

Sewing

Wow! I realized I haven't blogged in a while. SOThis semester I have been taking a sewing class with my mom. It is really awesome! I am learning so many different tricks that will help me in years to come. I just finished making place mats. I decided to make themed place mats to use in February. They didn't turn out as well as I was hoping but they are still super cute! I am so thankful for the opportunity to take this class with my mom. She makes it so much fun and all the other girls ask her sewing questions because she is a pro!two of the four on our tableThey can be used on either side

Christmas

Christmas was on the quiet side this year. It was just my parents and Danny and me. We got up and opened our presents. Danny gave some really cool gifts. My favorite gift that I got was my own set of scriptures! I was so happy! I have used my oldest brothers scriptures since I was eight. He got new ones when he went on his mission and his old ones were passed down to me. Don't get me wrong, in seminary I liked having most of the answers written in already, but they were falling apart. One of my other favorite gifts was the gift my dad gave my mom. It was a big metal turtle! I love that thing! He is super cute. I named him Bobby the Tortuga. Of course we had the traditional cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then we watched Karate Kid 2 and 3. It was a very nice and relaxing day! We also got snowed in and Danny spent hours digging our neighbors out.

Bob the Tortuga! Don't you just LOVE him? I like my creepy hand...

they call it turtle love. Mom really likes him too
